Reno Omokri Reacts As FIRS Says Nigerians Will Now Pay Tax For Using WhatsApp

The aide to former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Reno Omokri has reacted over the statement made by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) that Nigerians will now pay tax for using WhatsApp.

According to Reno Omokri, who made this known via his twitter handle, said that how can President Muhammadu Buhari ask Nigerians to pay tax for using WhatsApp? He added if President Muhammadu Buhari is broke, he can sell of his 10 presidential jets.

Omokri further said that Buhari can also cancel the N37 billion budgeted to renovate National Assembly and $500 million to digitise NTA. Read Reno Omokri statement below.

“Dear General Muhammadu Buhari, How can you ask Nigerians to pay a tax for using Whatsapp? If you are so broke then sell your 10 Presidential jets and cancel the ₦37 billion budgeted to renovate NASS and $500 million to digitise NTA News Now”

According to other online report, The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) says Nigerians will now pay stamp duties on WhatsApp messages, SMS, and messages via any electronic platform acknowledging receipt of funds.

The revenue service also stated that stamp duties will be paid on  “POS receipts, fiscalised device receipts, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) print-outs”.
